Library Information and Rules

Information:

-Our Lending Library List can be found on our website at:  https://pearl.biblionix.com/catalog/

  • You can place reserves on books and other items in the system.
  • You should receive a checkout receipt within a couple hours of us processing your requests and we will email confirmation messages when we are shipping the materials.
  • All library materials are considered non-consumable.

Rules:

  • All library items in a family’s possession must be listed in a student’s SLP.
  • The maximum amount of library items that can be checked out is 45 per enrolled student. This limit is applied to your family (all enrolled students) so if you have 2 students in the program your family’s limit would be 90 items.

  • Items can only be checked out for subjects that correspond with classes the student is signed up for in the PEARL program (ex. You cannot check out math supplies if math is not in your SLP). The exception to this rule is the “Novels & Readers” section of the library. Any enrolled student can check out reading books.

  • Do not check out materials specifically for use during the summer. We are not meant to provide materials for the months when school is not in session and there is no reporting.

  • Library checkouts are intended to be for the school year they were requested during. If, at the end of that school year, you find that your student will still need the item during the next school year or you have a student in the next grade below whowill be using the same curriculum you can hold onto it for the next year.

  • At the end of the second school year items must be returned.  There are a couple of exceptions to the 2 year rule and items can used for the duration of the students time in the program as long as they are part of that student’s SLP.  Those items are:

o Laptops & Accessories (Headphones, etc.)

o Tablets & Accessories (Cases, etc.)

o Musical Instruments

  • All items that have multiple components and are checked out as a single item must be returned as a set. Some examples are listed below:

o Laptops & tablets returned with chargers

o CD, DVD, & CD-Rom sets returned with all discs

o Manipulative Kit returned complete

o Book box set returned complete

  • Items missing components will have to be purchased.

  • We do not have late fees but if items are not returned on time your library account will be suspended until the item(s) in question are returned.

Returns

  • Typically, we receive most returns around the ends of the semesters in January & June.

  • Please do not return items individually after finishing with each unless you are bringing them into the office. You are welcome to send items back more frequently if you will not be applying for reimbursement but if you will be sending a Postage Claim Form for reimbursements please try to limit your returns to 2-3 bulk returns year.

  • You are always more than welcome to bring your returns into the office to return if you will be in the area during office hours.

  • If you fill out a Postage Expense Claim Form and send it in with the original receipt for postage, we can reimburse you for that postage.

  • We will only accept Postage Claim Reimbursement Forms for packages that were shipped through an official USPS Post Office or UPS. We no longer accept/process reimbursements for any other carrier or third party shipping service or store.

  • We will only reimburse for the cost of postage. We will not reimburse for added charges such as boxes, packing material, added insurance, house pickup, overnight delivery, etc. This includes purchasing pre-paid priority envelopes or boxes. Please do not use priority envelopes/boxes if you plan on applying for reimbursement.

  • Postage Expense Claim Forms, if not sent with the returned materials, must bereceived no later than 30 days from the date that the package was sent.

  • If you are planning on returning a laptop(s) or tablet(s) please let a librarian know beforehand for any special shipping information.

  • If your return consists of books and CDs/DVDs you can ship it as media mail through the post office. This is the cheapest way to send most returns of this nature.

  • Do not trade or give your items to another family in the program instead of returning them. If they were checked out or purchased by you they are your responsibility to return. If they do not get returned you will have to purchase the items. In addition they would be on your non-consumable list while not be being used in an SLP.
